India’s Bhatia Infra Project Limited and Bangladesh’s MM Builders and Engineering Limited will jointly carry out the job to realign the natural water course.
MM Builders Managing Director Mohiuddin Moyeen and Padma Multipurpose Bridge Project Director Mohammad Shafiqul Islam signed the agreement earlier in the day at the Setu Bhaban in the capital.
According to the deal, the river training will be done in two packages which would finish in six months
Under the first package, river engineering will be done first in the one kilometre area at Janjira upzila in Shariatpur. This package’s estimated cost is over Tk 460 million.
The second package costing over Tk 490 million will do the job in the next two kilometres of that area near the future bridge.
At the signing ceremony, Communications Minister Obaidul Quader said they expected to start building the bridge before the government ends its
